                             News for 2008 Updated:- 31.12. 2008

NEWS FROM HOME (Hadzor)

What a year this is shaping up to be, Here we are second week of Oct already and so much has happened this year to date. Justin and Debbie went skiing over the Xmas period. Teresa has given us a baby grandson born 30th Dec. Hannah has taken charge of the baby already as picture below shows !, We have had several trips to Leamington to see the Chamber family with stopovers for Christmas great fun, and of course to help out with the baby when she came home.
Everyone is very excited about the new born called Adam Toby Chambers and as you will see from the pics on Adams page he’s growing at a pace and already sitting and crawling unaided. Back in February Tish’s mum Nancy died at the ripe old age of 92 she past quietly in her sleep at Roseville she will be sorely missed. Tish and I had a week away in May to Xabia on the Costa Blanca with two friends Sue and Liz, had a great time and the weather was just right.
Aug 08 We spent some time in Devon visiting the folk back in Aug when we had a great reunion with the family (see the Herman’s news below).
Oct 08 October we had Bill Paddon and his “mom” Babs (she is in her 90th year and is fantastic) over from Canada. and the big news is Justin has proposed to Debbie and she has said YES.
Nov 08 We had another quick trip to Devon beginning of Nov to see the folks for four days and Marilyn and Jan came back for the weekend to Worcester to celebrate Justin and Debbie’s engagement. Also great news from the Perry family with the birth of Anna and Sophie on the 27th (see the Jones below)

Dec 08 I have to say Christmas this year has been a memorable one Teresa and Jon hosted this year and we had the company of Justin and Debbie for Christmas day and we stayed in the Regent travel lodge in Leamington for three nights which worked very well, saved the long haul back to Droitwich each night and we could be with them early for breakfast in the morning.
Christmas eve we went to the “Christdingle service” at the church, Teresa had made the christdingle candles for the six of us (see the pic) they consist of a large orange to hold the candle and represents the world a red ribbon around it which is the blood of christ four cocktail sticks for the points of the compass North East West and South with food on them (sweets, raisens, and dates or nuts to feed the world, a lovely way to start the festive period.
Teresa cooked her first Goose and it was my first taste as well, the kids all enjoyed it lots of presents to open from the family, for which we say a big thank you to you all.
The children experienced their first Pantomime “Beauty and the Beast” which was a magical moment - eyes like saucers with all the special effects they both stayed focused throughout and not a tear from Adam with the entrance of the wicked witch.

New Years we went to Tortworth Court for a black tie event with Liz and Nick and Justin and Debbie fab place and Champagne all the way, it all started with afternoon tea, in the observatory (a tower room three floors up, windows on three sides with views across the estate) we came back the this room for canopies and Champagne at 6pm before dinner in the Orangery a beautiful glass roofed restaurant for about 60 guests. and new years day a trip to Bath for morning coffee and lunch at the Thames Head Inn nestled in the cotswold. The trip to Bath was made spectacular by the heavy frost that had fallen overnight check out the pictures on 2009 News page...

Hello everyone
Some new pictures to be seen - recent storms, Gray's visit, Mother's day.
www.jcjones.plus.com.
Oct 08 -Carole is doing well after her op and getting back to full strength and can’t wait to get out to Auss.
More great news from down under Rachel is having twins which are due this month everything is under control Mum and babies doing well.
Oct 08 - You may have heard on the news of last night's events at Ottery St Mary. If you wish to see the BBC report you can find it on
www.bbc.co.uk/spotlight . It's been estimated that about 4" of rain fell in an hour followed by about one foot of hailstones.

Jones flood2Jones flood3

This all happened about 6 miles north of us. We had just over just one inch of rain. However, Otterhayes where Stephen lives caught the brunt of it. His house had several inches of filthy water in the ground floor. He's now home with us until temporary portacabin type accommodation is installed next week sometime. The house could take six months to be made habitable again

I took some photos on the way over to collect him which you can find on our web site under "locally". The mixture of hedges collapsing into the roads and feet high piles of mud mixed with unmelted hail made for a strange landscape.

Although the news focused on Ottery St Mary, other villages in the valley were affected. One of the saddest sights being the village
school at Tipton St John.

Nov 08 Great news from Aus Rachel has given birth to two beautiful baby girls Sophie Alice and Anna Foy
5 lbs and 4.5 lbs respectively, arrived early this morning our time, 3 pm-ish in Sydney. All are well, first pictures hot off the press below
