A JOURNEY BACK IN TIME
Tish’s 60th was a very special “time” a dream come true that came in two parts the first.
“A journey back in time to 1930...
Its September 1930 - The road is quiet at this time and as we travel South the cold wind whistles through the vents of the car, the only heat came from the baby Austin’s engine as it laboured to keep us on time. A chilling mist lingered over us as we sped towards Devon and our rendezvous with Burgh Island.
The excitement is already rising as much has been said about the Island or more precisely “The Great White Palace” that sits upon it and its links with the past. Who might we meet - it is said that Noel Coward went for three days and stayed three weeks, Agatha Christie wrote several books there, Lord Mountbatten , Kings as well all have been guests at this special hotel. The journey has been shortened in our dream of what’s to come and our trusty steed has carried us to our rendezvous point. The stormy sea has parted like the curtains to a stage revealing a sandy causeway to our sanctuary “The Burgh Island Hotel”. Join us as we journey back to that Deco time zone for a brief peep at the past.
SERENITY IN SORRENTO
The second part of Tish’s 60th was in Sorrento where the dream was completed with a thousand memories of this magical coast from Napoli to Amalfi crowned with the Isle of Capri.
As our song goes - We bought leather on the streets of Sorrento, carried kisses from the Isle of Capri we got high on the
coast of Amalfi with the memories...
We went on to the village of Ravello where the music grows on trees, between the arches of the villa of Rufolo the sound of
Wagner serenades the sea...
